Honoring the Life of Hazel Joy: Our Mission

The Hazel Joy Memorial Foundation is in the process of being established in memory and honor of Hazel Joy Misick, a loving sissy, daughter, granddaughter, niece, friend and warrior. The foundation will be a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization.

The Foundation seeks to pay tribute to Hazel’s legacy of happiness, joy, and love by supporting other families affected by infant death.  To this end, the Foundation supports these missions by:

  • Funding scholarships for siblings who have been affected by sudden infant death

  • Partnering with community organizations to provide financial resources for families experiencing childhood death

  • Raising funds to support families who experience time in the Pediatric Infant Care Unit

The Hazel Joy Memorial Foundation strives to make a real difference in the lives of families and organizations whom experience and/ or are directly associated with the unfortunate effects of experiencing a young loved one leave this world too soon.

Our Story

We are the Misick Family. on july 25th 2022 our daughter, hazel joy misick, stopped breathing while taking a nap at her babysitter's house. she was rushed to the hospital, but essentially ended up losing her life on july 26th 2022. this was an incredibly tragic, shocking incident that happened to our family and our life has forever changed because of it.

A little backstory about us. jamie and sean were married on December 3rd 2016 and were more than ready to start growing a family. sean already had a son, jackson, who jamie quickly grew to love. we became pregnant quickly after getting married, but the pregnancy ended in a miscarriage. a couple months later we were pregnant with our son lucas. he was born on march 18th 2018 and our world was right again. we started trying again for another baby after lucas turned 1 years old. we knew that miscarriage was obviously a risk, but jamie ended up having 8 miscarriages before finally being pregnant with sweet hazel joy. hazel was born on January 3rd 2022 and absolutely completed the family.

for 6 months we were able to love on our sweet girl. she was so sassy and strong, but so loving and sweet. she loved her big brothers and her daddy so much, she was definitely a guys girl. her bright eyes, chubby cheeks, and big smile would make anyone instantly happy.

we miss our girl so much. Starting this foundation has given us a chance to share her light with the world. we are so appreciative of the support we continue to receive and look forward to giving back to others in hazel's memory.
